A Photo Update...

How Liam's hair looked one Saturday morning. Seriously! He got out of bed with a perfect mohawk! Cammy thinks it's pretty funny ;o)

And just a note... the photo of the baby in the bouncenette (sp?) is ME!!! The similarities between me and Cammy are undeniable!

As promised...

Those layouts :o)

Some of these layouts were in the latest Scrapboxx Newsletter for July.

Speaking of Scrapboxx, have you been there lately??? Maria has developed a whole new, fabulous, interactive site. It's still got a friendly forum and an amazing gallery - but it's much more "social" - kinda myspace-y, facebook-y. And very funky!!!

Check it out here at www.theboxx.scrapboxx.com. You wont' regret it!

Have to run! The little man is waking!

Have a great weekend!!!

Finally... a post from me with some substance!

I really did have the best of intentions in doing a *proper* post a few days ago but time just seems to get away from me these days!

Cammy is doing so well now. And, amazingly, at only 19 weeks old (4 months and 1 week) - he cut his very first tooth! It hasn't been the *best* experience for him. Unlike Jack who cut teeth *very* easily, Cammy has been incredibly grumpy and irritable. Going from a baby who was sleeping soundly through the night - to one that is up multiple times. We had been just using the hylands teething tablets and the panadol when needed. But we've since had to move on to also using Bonjella, teething rings and teething rusks. Which is *finally* giving him some relief. Thinking that the worst was over - he's cut his *second* tooth just yesterday. Hope the poor little man gets a bit of a break before the top teeth come in!

Don't worry! I didn't let him cry for too long to get this photo ;o)

Big milestone last night as well! We started him on solids! Now - I know the medical experts all say to wait until your child is 6 months old before introducing solids. And we had all intention of waiting until then. But. Well. He's a BIG boy. At 4 months, he weighed 8.1kgs. He's been grabbing at our food at mealtimes. He's feeding more regularly through the day and he's back to wanting feeds through the night as well. So we figured that he was well and truly ready.

And we weren't wrong! He LOVED his farex rice cereal! He knew immediately what to do - opening his mouth when the spoon came and making attempts to *chew* rather than just suck it down. He had about 6 baby spoonfuls before he decided that it was enough and started to *push* it back out. We'll keep going with just the bland rice cereal for this week and gradually start to give it a bit more flavour next week (by adding stewed apples or pears or sweet potato, etc to it).

Jack is doing super-well and loving this whole "pocket money" thing! We took him to Target last Thursday night to let him spend his earnings. Coincidentally - it was the first night of Target's Toy Sale so there were some great bargains to be had! He quickly found what he wanted and was so proud to pay the check-out lady himself! Here he is with his purchase!!!

We also bought Cammy a high-chair that Thursday night and here's a photo from the first night of use! I love the contrast between Cammy's toys (the brightly coloured rubber-ish blocks) and Jack's toys (the Transformers) that he's "displaying" to Cammy. (Cammy's favourite is Optimus Prime... he's got a bright blue shiny axe "thing" ;o)

And just quickly (because Little Mr Man has just woken up) - here's a few random photos from Cammy's time in hospital. I think it's pretty funny that with all the modern technologies in medicine now - I love the way that they feed the bubbies the milk via the tube down the nose... by taping a bottle upside down!!!)

Layouts coming tomorrow!

Have a great day!

Briefly

It's been a while since I updated and the most important thing that has happened is that Cammy came home from hospital. He ended up having to be in there for 5 nights. After being admitted on Thursday, he was in the headbox until Saturday morning. He still had to be on oxygen though but it was via the prongs up his nose. They gradually reduced the oxygen until he was able to come off it on Monday afternoon. I was also able to booby-feed him again on Monday which he was *very* happy with! LOL

We got a scare at one stage in there when he broke out in a red, lumpy rash over most of his body. Turns out that it was because they'd put him on formula via his nose-feed-tube-thingie because there was none of my expressed breast milk defrosted. As soon as they took him off the forumla and back on the booby-milk, the rash disappeared within the hour. Amazing, huh? So there's NO S26 formula for this bubby EVER!

Will do a proper update tomorrow filled with photos of both my beautiful boys!

But for now - here's some sneak-peeks of some scrapping that I've been doing. After having my motivation to scrap gone for so long - i'm so happy to have it coming back in the last month!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and well-wishes for Cammy's recovery. So grateful that you guys take the time out to read here and comment! Thanks so much!

Hospital

It's really late and I've only just gotten home not long ago so I'll keep it as brief as possible for now - i really need to get to bed and get to sleep.

He's had a cold (coughs, snufflies, snotties and sneezes) since Sun/Mon. We took him to emergency yesterday morning after I noticed he was having major problems breathing. Were taken straight in to see a doctor after being assessed by triage nurse.

After them suctioning out the mucus from his throat and nose (and sending it off for testing) he went for chest x-rays and blood tests. Chest x-rays came back clear but blood test results and he's mucus "thing" showed he was positive for RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) - specifically 'Bronchiolitis'

They put the oxygen tubes up his nose (you know - the ones that just kinda sit up the nostrils?) which helped his breathing a little. He was working *so* hard just to breathe. His little body was jolting with the movements of each breath. Because his breathing was so laboured he was admitted to the children's hospital.

He deteriorated once we were in the ward. The oxygen that he was getting wasn't enough so he ended up in a "head box" where they feed a greater amount of oxygen. His body was still jolting so badly with the effort it was taking him to breathe. They put a tube through his nose and down his throat to feed him expressed breast milk but having a full tummy was making his body work even harder to breathe. So they took that out and put him on an IV drip which he's still on. The doctors came and told us that if he continued to deteriorate, he'd be taken to the ICU.

He had a really restless night (I stayed and slept by his bedside) - needed patting back to sleep quite often. Everytime he coughed, he cried. He had to have more blood tests at 1am from his foot to make sure that he was processing the gases OK. It was a really hard night for him and me.

Honestly - I've never had to do anything as difficult as this before. To watch your baby in pain, upset, hurt and confused is the most horrible thing. To not be able to pick him up and cuddle him and make him better.

Because he was in the box and because his body was already under a lot of pressure just breathing - we weren't allowed to hold him because that would've made him have to work even harder. All we could do was watch on and pat his bottom through a blanket. And because what he has is a virus, all the medical staff can do is to make sure he's getting enough oxygen, treat him with panadol and feed him intravenously.

Today was a little better. He showed small improvements. Rested heaps this morning which is vital. Was a little bit more alert and "alive" tonight when I was there. Was settling himself after coughs much better. And was interested in looking at "Poley" through the glass. Interacted with Liam and I a little before he got tired again (didn't take long - poor mister-man is exhausted).

Doctor's have put the feeding tube down his throat again and he's constantly being fed 40ml of breastmilk an hour. Hopefully this will pick him up a little more as well.

Liam is staying with him tonight. I'll be going back again first thing in the morning.
We're hoping that he'll improve a little more tomorrow. We think that we must be in the "plateu" stage of this virus and hope that yesterday was "rock-bottom"... because I don't know how I'd cope if he was any worse than he was yesterday... just awful.

But anyway - I've written way more than I've intended.

Sorry I haven't been around to comment on the gorgeous layouts entered so far in the weekly challenge I set. I have been in to have a quick squizz tonight and they look great - I'm just too knackered to comment right now.

And I'm sorry to the Whisper group that I'm in right now - I promised to have the layout on it's way by today (Sat) but that's not going to happen just yet. I will get to it as soon as I can - promise.

Here's some piccies of our poor little man. Ignore what looks to be a rash on his back - it's just bad lighting (no flash and poor light).

He's still really unwell so if you're the praying kind - please spare some for my beautiful little Cammy.

Thanks
Ali xoxo

Mr. Grabby!

Look who's holding things now!!! My clever little 12 week monkey!

12 weeks! Yep. Holy Cow.

Observations of Mr Cammy-Mc-Cam-Cam at 12 weeks.

* still has *most* of his hair. Except for a teeny little bald patch at the back. Liam has taken to calling him "Friar".
* still loves his boobie (see him modelling t-shirt below ;o)
* doesn't look much like a newborn anymore.
* is starting to do cute little chuckles - especially when Liam pretends to eat his chubby little thighs.
* loves looking at his mobile when he's on his change-mat. Froggie is his favourite and gets the biggest squeals, smiles and foot-stamping.
* his bed-time is generally between 9pm-10pm now. Sometimes there's a feed required about 1.30. More often than not - he'll sleep through until 5am-6am and go back to bed.
* has the most adorable little edible toes.
* is so in love with his big brother Jack. Thinks it's pretty funny when Jack gets in trouble - does big smiles!
* still has a bit of conjunctivitis in his left eye. Poor little mite has had conjunctivitis on and off since he was born - despite having eye-drops.
* has been wearing 00 clothes for the last month at least! Double 0 bonds wondersuits are a little tight - he's more comfortable in a 0.
* makes a crazy little grunty-snorty noise, makes his body stiff and frowns. This is his "tough guy" attitude!
* is a real water boy. LOVES having baths. Kicks madly like a crazy little frog. Tries to eat the bubbles.
* his best friend is "dino". Photo still to come.
* also known as: Cammy Mc-Cam-Cam, Cammy, Cam, Froggy, Mr Monkey, Mr Boy, Pooper, Loafie, Chubba-chub.
* not keen on tummy-time. Has shown no interest in learning to roll. Lazy bum.
* fills our lives with so much love and happiness.

love you more and more each day, Mr Man.
